Day two in the books.  It seems that some of you have tried to comment and are struggling with that - my apologies, but I have no idea how this thing works.  It is good to know that many of you are checking in and care deeply about me and the journey that we are on.

What did we do today - We began by looking at Acts 8 the story of Philip and the ethiopian eunuch.  Philip guided by the spirit of Jesus Christ helped the eunuch make sense of the Bible.   We discussed the difference between being a guide and an explainer.  The guide invites involvement from the learner where as the explainer opens the can and fills it with info.  I want to be a guide.  We looked at our understanding of the Holy Spirit and scripture.  the holy Spirit inspired scripture as it was written and illuminates our reading.

When you open the Bible don't be afraid to say a prayer inviting the Spirit to illuminate the word of God for you.

In the afternoon we talked a bit about our culture as it is presented in sitcoms, grocery store magazines, and children's cartoons.   This was a little scary.  Certainly you will hear more about this in time.

Tomorrow we have a special assignment - it is a secret - look forward to hearing more.

missing all of you
blessings
Hunter

Well Hunter,
Interesting way to assess the culture. Would love to hear the kinds of things you found that sitcoms and cartoons reveal. I will pray that the Lord makes this time both refreshing and transforming. Peace

If tabloid magazines and sitcoms are truly respresentative of our culture, we're in over our heads.

OOOOO a secret for tomorrow...or well...today now?

No mention of missing softball yet! C'mon man

May God Bless You in this time, stay safe, and return with new ideas, and a new found passion for church and things we can do. On a side note, I will be telling the team on Monday in pregame discussion, but a prayer request, I spoke with Mike (Keystone coach) at length after the game, there leftfielder, he is a young/fast guy, bats lefty, i am trying to get his name and address. His wife was just diagnosed with leukemia. They are pregnant and only 20 weeks in. They are faced with the decision of starting treatment/risking baby health, abortion, or risking her life by not starting treatment, I have not heard how serious it is, but the word scares me, because for some reason I relate it to a serious form of cancer. Anyway, say a prayer for him!

Be safe and see you when you return, if I shouldn't have been saying any of this here, my apologies!

-Sean
